Wild Card Jayci Goldsmith advances, plays #1 seed Marcela Zacarias in quarterfinals Friday

Polo’s own Jayci Goldsmith prevailed in her match against South Africa’s Ilze Hattingh (RSA) to advance to the quarterfinals tomorrow. The 16 year old fought her way back into the match with a second set tiebreak after losing the first set, then played a beautiful third set before a cheering home crowd to win 2-6, 7-6(3), 6-4.

Tomorrow Jayci will be tested by the #1 seed, 22yo Marcela Zacarias of Mexico. Today Marcela bested Oklahoma State’s Kelsey Laurente (USA) 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-2

Marcela Zacarias has won three singles titles and one doubles title on the ITF circuit, and played for the Mexico Fed Cup team in 2012. Also in 2012  Marcela ranked 7th in the world on the junior circuit. She has played in two grand slams, reaching the second qualifying round in 2015 US Open. At year end 2015 Marcela was ranked 190 world-wide.

Qualifier Ronit Yurovsky wins again, will battle #8 seed Katherine Sebov in quarterfinals

University of Michigan’s Ronit Yorovsky advances again, continuing her qualifying run into the quarterfinals of the $10,000 Women’s Pro Open. She defeated Catherine Harrison (USA) in straight sets 6-3 6-4.

Yorovsky will play at 10 am on court 2 tomorrow vs #8 seed 17yo Katherine Sebov (CAN). Katherine Sebov (CAN) won today against USC’s Jessica Failla (USA) 7-6(5) 6-2.

As a junior Katherine has played in several grand slams, advancing to the round of 16 at the 2015 Australian Open in girls singles and finishing runner up in the Canadian Open Junior Championships in girls doubles.




Wild Card Josie Kuhlman defeats #2 seed in straight sets

Florida Gator Josie Kuhlman defeated #2 seed and 13-time ITF champ Chieh-Yu Hsu in straight sets, 6-2 6-1.


Kuhlman faces #6 seed Alexa Graham tomorrow in the quarterfinals.

18yo Alexa Graham was victorious today in her match against Duke University’s Kaitlyn McCarthy, 6-3 7-6(2)
