Dear Members,

Things have been quiet at the Club during spring break.  We are looking forward to the “normal” activities next week.

As the courts become more busy, we would like to remind you to:

  • Make your court reservations in advance (you may do them two weeks ahead).
  • Give your first and last name when making your reservation.
  • Book the court for a maximum of one and a half hours.
  • Check in the Front Desk prior to playing.
  • Report to the court assigned.
We have posted a “monthly calendar” on the bulletin board with all the home courts being used for leagues.  This schedule will help you arrange your matches.
Also, we have posted a “weekly” calendar with all the activities we offer.  You may ask for a copy from the staff to post it on your home bulletin board.
For those who are away, have a safe trip back and see you on the courts.

Give a warm welcome to our new Members at the Polo Club:
  • Gregg and Michele Vannostran and children Brooke and Payton
  • Fred and Monica Rebelz
  • Cameron and Kirby Walls and children Laine and Tucker

Kenna and Gary are back offering their Cardio Tennis on Tuesday nights from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Deadline to sign up is Monday night.  To register click this link to Sign Up Genius or sign up in the Pro Shop.

The Girls Scouts of Dripping Springs and Wimberley are collecting shoes to be used to support micro-enterprise vendors.
We have a box located in the Pro Shop to drop off your shoes.  Shannon O’Connor is the person in charge of the collections.  Please tie shoes together and deliver them before March 31.  Your help is appreciated.

Great Advice!
( This applies to general conditioning )
  • Each workout should incorporate exercises for all your body’s major muscles, since those are the ones that have the most potential to get bigger and stronger, and to shake up your metabolism.
  • Absent a medical or sport-a waste of time. You can’t accomplish anything with a biceps curl that couldn’t be achieved with a chin-up or underhanspecific purpose, exercises that focus on small muscles are usually d-grip lat pull down
  • When in doubt, choose exercises that most closely resemble the actions your body was designed to do.
  •  This is short and simple but it makes a lot of sense.
Contact Gary Shelly for anything fitness related.

  • Micah Ahr March 3 (Happy belated birthday)
  • David Bateman – March 17
  • Adrian Garza – March 17
  • Frank Daniels – March 18
  • Gary Shelly – March 27
  • Kolby Kilgo – March 31

Our High Performance kids have been extremely focused and motivated this past week getting ready for tournaments. I love when all their hard work doesn’t go unrewarded! Congratulations to Tali Jarmondfor winning boys 14 and under main draw. This kid is on a roll! If you get a chance to come out and watch him you won’t be disappointed. Other congrats are due to Ankith Chandra for taking 5th in boys 14 and under and Ireland Simme for making it into the final rounds on Monday in girls 14 and under. Tallulah and Lexian Andrushko as well as Whitney Robbins all fell in the second day of the Waco Superchamp tournament. Each one showed great fight and came back to Austin ready to get better for the next tournament.
A special shout out goes to Ankith Chandra for winning the sportsmanship award this weekend at the Waco Superchamp tournament. Way to represent. We are so proud!
If you are free at all this weekend we have some of our kids playing in the Austin Open. Come out and support the High Performance Group!
Lastly I would like to give a HUGE appreciation post to Kolby Kilgo, one of the High Performance coaches as well as the high performance strength and fitness coach. Since having him work with the kids, we have gotten LOTS of recognition of the HP kids being in better shape than their opponents. He is able to push and motivate the Polo team to get the most out themselves and their workouts. I don’t know how he does it, but he has taken the program to the next level. If you see him around, give him a pat on the back…he deserves it!

It’s been a slow spring break week for our players and well deserved break for our ladies. It’s a good time to rest the body and take care of all the little nagging injuries that we all have from playing. Our teams have been working really hard and had a good start of the season so we will be looking forward to a strong  second half starting next week. We will also have our clubs first 4.0 USTA team starting in couple of weeks so we are very excited about that, as well as our 3.0 and 2.5 USTA Teams.I would also like to thank all of the members that came out and supported me at USTA National Tournament at Westwood Country Club two weekends ago. It felt really great to be back on the court and to be able to compete at that level again. I enjoyed every minute of it and will most definitely be playing again. For those of you that don’t know the results, I lost in the finals of both doubles and mixed doubles. It was a wonderful weekend and thank you all again for cheering for me and my partner!

Looking forward to seeing everyone back on the courts next week.

Just a reminder that the popular Monday Mixed Doubles League will resume on March 20.  We thank all the participants for playing.  Cost to enter is $35 for one person, or $55 for a couple.  If interested in signing up contact Carrie Cockayne at or by sending her a text to 512-241-9741.

Congratulations Rachel Dory for winning Singles 2.5 San Antonio Adult Major Zone

Fernando and his second daughter Anna, participated in the Nationals Father and Daughter Indoor Tournament last weekend in Chicago.  They lost in two tough matches and the competition was very strong.  The best part of it was the fellowship and the new relationships created there.
We are already making plans to go back to Chicago next year and enter the Father/Daughter event and Anna and son Cole, the Mother/Son event.
This event attracted sixteen Open Teams, eight Senior 60+ Teams, eight 70+ teams, and five 80+ teams.
